✔️ Strongly advised to consult your physician about prescribing anti-viral medication. Common anti-viral medication includes, but is not limited to: Valtrex and Zovirax. These anti-viral medications help prevent you from having a herpes outbreak, especially if you have a history of chicken pox, fever blisters, or cold sores. Follow instructions from your physician on the use or consumption of the medication. This treatment does not cause cold sores, however, it can trigger an outbreak if you have had cold sores in the past.
✔️ Lip and skin surrounding lip area should be free of all irritations including blemishes, eczema, and psoriasis.
✔️ Get plenty of rest and drink lots of water to hydrate prior to procedure.
❌ Please avoid any type of blood thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to your procedure unless it is unsafe to do so for your health. Please consult your physician before stopping these type of medications. Examples include, but are not limited to: Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Advil, Niacin, Voltaren or Indocid. As well as Prenatal Vitamins, Vitamin E or Nutritional Shakes.
❌ Stop taking fish oil, vitamin C, glucosamine, evening primrose oil, or ginger one week prior to your appointment as they thin the blood and prevent the pigment from implanting correctly. If you continue to use these, the healed result may be patchy.
❌ Do not consider getting lip blush immediately after a lip implant. You can consider lip blush after 6 months.
❌ Do not consider getting lip blush immediately after any type of lip filler procedure. You can consider lip blush treatment 4 weeks after lip fillers.
❌ Avoid sun tanning or tanning beds prior to procedure. If you show up to your appointment with a sunburn you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. A sunburn results in dry, peeled skin, which will take away the pigment. Tanned skin is damaged skin, and your colour will not heal properly.
❌ Do not work out on the day of the procedure.
❌ Do not drink alcohol 24 hours prior to your procedure.
❌ Do not consume coffee or other caffeine products 24 hours prior.
❌ Must not be on Accutane for one year.
◉ Please note you will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.
✔️ Apply Vaseline ointment on lips several times a day. This should be done for at least 7-10 days post treatment. You may also wear vitamin A and D lip ointment immediately after the procedure (a tube will be given for free after the service).
✔️ You may wear lipstick, lip gloss, and chap-stick after 7 days. Make sure the tube of lip product is new. Please also wear SPF lip balm after 7 days to help protect the tissue and colour as much as possible.
✔️ You may apply an ice pack (which must be protected with a wet barrier film of paper towel, towel or cloth) for 10-minute intervals for the first 48 hours. Ice may be applied every hour or so, if desired.
❌ Do not put ice directly on lip area.
❌ Do not do any lip filler procedure following a lip blush procedure. You must wait at least 4 weeks.
❌ Do not allow lips to become dry. This may interfere with healed color. When applying ointment or Vaseline, dab or press the product onto the lips. Do not rub.
❌ Itching is normal. Do not pick at your lips.
❌ Avoid moisture to the lips such as hot soups and hot coffee for the first 48 hours. Drink everything through a straw until lips completely peel.
❌ Do not stretch the lips. Avoid large bites of food. Do not bite into greasy, oily, salty or spicy foods. Cut food into smaller bites.
❌ While eating, do not constantly wipe your lips with a napkin or keep licking your lips as this will impede the healing process.
❌ Avoid underwater swimming for a minimum of 2 weeks to avoid bacterial infection.
❌ Before brushing your teeth, seal lips with ointment first. Put cotton balls in gum areas so toothbrush will not rub against the lips. No whitening toothpaste (during the healing process). Do not bleach/whiten your teeth for at least two weeks while your lips are healing.
❌ Do not expose the lips to tanning beds for 4 weeks. This is new skin and will sunburn easily and direct sun may also cause scarring and alter pigment color.
❌ No smoking while lips are healing for at least 10 days.
❌ No kissing, rubbing or friction on your newly tattooed lips until after 10 days or you may lose pigment.
◉ Immediately following the procedure, lips may feel dry, chapped, tight and tender to the touch
◉ Expect moderate swelling to last 24-48 hours.
◉ Scabbing may make the lips feel thick.
◉ Lips will fade up to 50% after the first 5 days. While healing, the tattoo will look patchy. This is due to skin regeneration and healing.
◉ Two or three sessions may be required to achieve the desired results. Please be patient. Cosmetic tattooing is a multiple-step appointment process with a healing time of approximately 6 weeks in between touch up appointments.
◉ Factors that can affect the healing process include, but are not limited to, the following: poor diet, stress, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, age, general health, sleep/fatigue. The more fatigued you are the lower your immune system is and infection is more likely to occur.
